Does my child need early intervention?

Early childhood (birth to 3 years) is such an exciting time of rapid growth and development. While it's true that children learn and grow at different rates, sometimes they need a little extra support to optimize their communication and to minimize their frustration. Speech and language "milestones" are guidelines that tell us the age ranges in which specific skills are expected to occur. If you suspect your child is struggling to meet his/her communication milestones, early intervention speech and language therapy may be just what he/she needs to thrive. When should I seek an evaluation?

If you're concerned about your child's development, do not wait to seek early intervention. The neural connections in your child's brain- which are responsible for their learning, behavior, and health- are most adaptable during the first three years. For this reason, support is most effective when it's provided early on.
